Aimed at most levels from beginner to experienced using soft pastels this class focuses on learning what a good composition can do for your finished work, whether landscape, still life or figure. We will discuss under-painting and its merits.
There will be individual discussions about your art and group critiques.
Class goals are to learn something new, to grow as an artist, to become confident in your ability.
Supplies:
If you are new to pastels, please don’t buy anything until you email about supplies cathmcilhenny@gmail.com
Class has a specific paper (U ART, pastel premier) that the instructor would like new people to use and usually bring sheets of paper for the class to purchase, if interested. Instructor will also have a very small amount of soft pastels for people to try before they buy a set of their own.
What to bring:
You will need to bring 2 old towels: one for your table and one for the floor.
You will need a backer board such as foam core board which can be bought at Walmart or Target for your artwork.
You will most likely need a bag to carry your supplies.
We have easels in the classroom.
If you have any questions, please email cathmcilhenny@gmail.com.
