New programming focusing on 6th through 12th graders specifically designed for student artists and children interested in the arts.

Mondays • 6 weeks • 4:30 to 6:00 pm

9/13, 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18

Every object, character and scene are made up of shapes in space. This class will teach you how to see shape in everything, so you can draw anything you’d like. Once we learn to see shapes in space, we will learn some tricks to drawing people, animals, objects and scenery. This class is perfect for beginners and those who want to take their drawings to the next level. 

Recommended Supplies:

Canson Mixed Media Paper (11X14)–This paper is easy to find and works great if we need to add water to anything

2B Pencil, Orange or Blue Col-Erase Pencil, Soft Charcoal Pencil, Round Watercolor Paint Brush Size 4 (We’ll use this to add water to charcoal), Blending Tortillons, Kneaded Eraser, Ball Point Pen – My favorite is the Zebra f.301 0.7 mm

Session 2: 11/20, 11/27, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18 (10 am to 2 pm, last class with party) 

During this 6 week program we will introduce various famous artists following a painting, craft or art project that reinforces the styles, techniques and materials that these artists used to create their masterpieces! Such artists we will be studying will be Georgia O’Keefe, Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Picasso, Keith Haring and more! From Cubism to POP ART your child will have a great time creating their own awesome masterpieces using a variety of materials and inspiration from these famous artists! So let the LETS KREATE and let your imagination soar!

Join us as we explore the basics of three dimensional art with hand-building clay projects. Students will gain a better understanding of shapes, textures and lines through classic sculpting techniques such as pinch, coil and slab.

Learn color theory and how light affects color with Color Pencils. We will cover many topics like color blending, complimentary colors, color value and color pencil techniques. Don’t worry, that’s just the technical description. How we’ll be learning all that is by coloring people, animals, animated movie shots, our own illustrations and much more. 

Required Material (Michael’s carries these items)

Strathmore Bristol Board

Color Pencils (I use PrismaColor)

Either Alcohol markers or watercolor paints

Optional Material

Oil Pastel
